Founder of the SWEETGRASS Institute

Olga Shmelova is a psychotherapist, mental health leader, educator, and systems thinker specializing in complex mental health, addictions, resilience, and human development. With over 15 years of experience working across clinical, community, and leadership settings, her work integrates psychotherapy, relational approaches, systems thinking, and community-centered perspectives to support meaningful and sustainable change.

Olga is known for her innovative, integrative and transformative approach to therapy, rooted in the belief that people are not broken, but often disconnected from meaning, belonging, direction, and authentic relationship. Her work moves beyond symptom management toward resilience, responsibility, connection, and the lifelong process of becoming.

In addition to her clinical work, Olga serves as a Regional Director for Manitoba with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and sits on the National Board of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). She is actively involved in advancing conversations around relational mental health, professional development, community well-being, and innovative approaches to psychotherapy and human development.

Her work brings together clinical depth, practical wisdom, and a strong commitment to helping individuals and systems navigate complexity with greater courage, coherence, resilience, and humanity.

Shannon Harley

Shannon Harley

Trauma-Informed Healing & Empowerment Guide

I am Shannon, a trauma-informed holistic practitioner, recovery guide, and sacred space holder devoted to supporting healing, transformation, and compassionate care through all stages of life—including recovery, growth, and end-of-life transitions. With over 26 years of lived recovery experience, my path has been shaped by resilience, deep healing, and the understanding that healing is not linear—it is a return home to oneself. Through Reiki, somatic movement therapy, somatic breathwork, acupressure, herbal wellness support, recovery coaching, life coaching, and end-of-life doula support, I offer heart-centered care for those seeking balance, healing, meaning, and deeper connection. My work honours the wisdom held within the body, the strength born through adversity, and the soul’s innate capacity for healing, acceptance, and peace. I believe healing unfolds when we feel safe enough to soften, courageous enough to release what no longer serves us, and open enough to receive who we are becoming. I also believe that death, like life, deserves dignity, compassion, presence, and sacred support. Whether walking alongside someone in recovery, personal transformation, grief, or end-of-life transition, my intention is to create spaces where individuals and families feel seen, held, and supported. Together, we create room for restoration, empowerment, reflection, and reconnection—with self, purpose, inner peace, and the deeper rhythms of life. My role is to walk beside others with compassion, authenticity, and hope, supporting each person as they reclaim their light, honour their journey, and move through life’s transitions with courage and grace. You are not here merely to survive—you are here to heal, grow, and remember the strength, wisdom, and sacred wholeness that have always lived within you.

Therapist

Healing is at the heart of being human. I believe in the inherent goodness and natural drive toward growth within each person. Often, this process unfolds through the very challenges and suffering we experience. Our pain can become an opening to transformation, meaningful understanding, and even joy — and sometimes we need help to find our way through it. I offer a grounded and compassionate space to guide that journey.

In therapy, I help clients explore how past experiences shape present patterns, and how to integrate those experiences in ways that promote self-awareness, emotional adaptability, and wholeness. Together, we work toward optimizing mental, emotional, and physical well-being while learning to navigate life's inevitable challenges with compassion and strength.

I work with a wide range of concerns and have a special interest in supporting individuals and families experiencing addiction. My approach is holistic and tailored to each person, drawing from EMDR, psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), mindfulness-based, and somatic methods to address the whole being — mind, body, heart, and spirit.

I am a Masters of Counselling Psychology (with honours) graduate with a lifetime commitment to personal development including over 25 years of experience practicing and teaching the therapeutic practice of yoga.

Trevor Debari

Therapist

Hi, I'm Trevor. I hold a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology and am a professional member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC). I primarily support adults and adolescents navigating issues such as addiction, anxiety, self-worth, life transitions, and identity. Whether you're facing something new or carrying something heavy for a long time, you don't have to do it alone.

My approach is client-centered and trauma-informed, rooted in collaboration, curiosity, and respect. I draw from a range of modalities to meet your needs. I believe that healing begins in safe, compassionate spaces, where you don't have to explain or perform, just be human. My role is to walk alongside you, helping you reconnect with your strengths, your story, and the self you may have lost touch with along the way.

At the heart of my work is a deep respect for people's resilience and stories. If you're ready to take that next step, however big or small, I'm here to help you feel safe, supported, and seen.

Through catering and community events, I'm grateful to contribute to spaces focused on healing, wellness, and meaningful connection.
